Normally I dont write journal entries however I thought I might share with you this peculiar rodent story of mine.
Now this story takes place A couple of days ago when I was on my way to work, After getting off the bus in the city center I decided that I was feeling rather lazy that morning and instead of walking the rest of the way to work as I would any other day I decided that I would catch the free bus that drives past my place of work.
When I got on the bus there where few places to sit bar the odd one or two seats... At first I thought I would stand but then my laziness prevailed and I went to sit at the front of the bus. Now this may have seemed like an ordinary story but up until now nothing was out of the ordinary. It was when I looked down to see where I was sitting did I find a little gray and white mouse already sat on the seat of the bus... Well taken a back by a little mouse looking at me I finally reached down and held out my hand for the little rodent to climb on, the little mouse came running over and climbed straight onto my hand. When I placed the mouse safely in my bosom...
A lady on the bus who watched me do that told me that it was Disgusting and that I should throw it out side on the grass My first initial reaction was to throw her out side but I said nothing and went up to speak to the driver. Of course the driver laughed at me when I told him that I had just found a mouse that was having a free ride on his bus... and of course he didnt believe me!
But nether the less I got off at my stop muse in hand and went to work. At work I filled a bottle cap with some water and found a box and some breadcrumbs for the little mouse to eat. I proceeded to ring the bus companies in the city so I could leave my name and number in the lost and found property section to which I received a lecture on pets and public transport by one bus company and the other bus company also couldnt believe what Id found.
The mouse now aptly named scampers could only have been somebodys pet, what on earth somebody is doing taking their pet on the bus is beyond me. Maybe someone was taking their pet to school to show their friends? Maybe someone who didnt want the mouse anymore abandoned it? Or maybe the mouse escaped from its cage at home only to climb into the handbag or backpack of someone on their way to work?
However since I am an avid rodent lover and have had pet mice and rats before I had a spare cage in which scampers will now live until somebody calls the bus company looking for their lost pet.
I dont think my partner Wez was too impressed with me bringing home a pet mouse but what else can one do?
